Putting the claim that fast fashion is "disposable" to the test.

Day 1: Head to toe Shein

Day 1 of the 90 days of Shein challenge and I started very simply: loose denim trousers and a grey knit polyester top. On my feet are my only pair of shoes, black plimsols with white laces. As it’s a sunny day, I have the rather flimsy pair of sunglasses that also arrived from Shein.

I have to admit the trousers were a pleasant surprise. I like the fabric and they hang really nicely. I guess it’s not a coincidence they were the single most expensive item I bought from Shein.

As for the top, it drapes nicely. Polyester isn’t a fabric I often wear, and I’m conscious of feeling a little more clammy than usual. Still, it was only a work from home – school run – host playdate kind of day.

There’s a (thrifted) Shein hoodie ready for when it gets cold later, and my Shein nightdress waiting under the pillow for bedtime. Even my socks and underwear are Shein.
