Day 12: My experience of wearing Shein lingerie and nightwear

Let’s start with the nightdress, which I’ve worn every single night — luckily I opted to do this in summer, when enough days have been warm and dry enough for me to wash and dry it and have it ready for nighttime.

When I got the nightdress, it felt more like really thin viscose than cotton. The main ‘design feature’ is a yoke at the top. I could probably have made it myself — though it would have taken all day; Shein workers are expected to produce several hundred garments an hour.

Some of the threads in the stitching on the yoke were coming loose when I received it, but after a couple of washes there’s not been any noticeable deterioration.

I washed in the machine on a gentle cycle at 40C, and dried it outside on the line.

I have five pairs of pants, all of which I’ve worn, some several times.

The set of three cotton pants all had loose threads along the seam holding the gusset in place and on the side seams when I first got them. However, they feel fine — not noticeably different from, for example, Marks & Spencers pants.

The two pairs of fancy polyester knickers are … let’s just say wearing them for a few hours on a hot summer’s day reminded me exactly why I prefer cotton pants.

As for the two bras, they look pretty, but I’m having to get used to the lack of support.

I was pleasantly surprised that the socks felt so nice on. The set of three came out of their first (machine) wash with bobbles, but the floral pair looked as good as new.
