Putting the claim that fast fashion is "disposable" to the test.

Day 47: I’m singlehandedly destroying my Shein capsule wardrobe

When I started this challenge I anticipated the issue would be that the clothes would fall apart of their own accord. So far, only the backpack has disintegrated. Unfortunately I’ve been helping the other clothes along to an early demise. Since I’m wearing such a small number of clothes for three months, they’re on heavy rotation.

The green jumper is already starting to get loose threads, not to mention the sleeves are gradually descending towards the ground. Its fatally attracted to door handles, cheese graters, my guinea pigs’ claws…

But it was the sweatshirt that got a bit too close to the stove this afternoon, and now has a fetching (not) burnt rim around one cuff.

The white long-sleeve t-shirt got in with a coloureds wash and is now pale pink. (Actually I quite like this and I might dye it another colour as I rarely wear white in the autumn and winter.)

Less attractively, the trench coat has two ink stains — one on the cuff, one on the hem — that I haven’t been able to shift yet.

Lets hope I manage not to destroy anything else in the remaining weeks of the challenge…
