Putting the claim that fast fashion is "disposable" to the test.

Day 59: Reunited with my Shein capsule wardrobe

After a very difficult two weeks during which I comprehensively failed my 90 days of Shein challenge, I’ve been reunited with almost all of the tiny Shein capsule I’m supposed to be wearing for the three summer months of 2024.

To recap: I launched the challenge, where I’m wearing a tiny capsule of 11 items plus nightwear and underwear, to test out whether fast fashion really is disposable.

Will this selection of clothing and accessories stand up to daily wear over a 90-day period or will it start to disintegrate?

Unfortunately, a month and a half into the challenge, I went on a trip to visit various friends and family in England and Scotland and managed to leave behind several items on the way. That coincided with some terribly wet weather when I got home. As a result, while I’ve still been wearing the pieces I have as much as possible, I had to mix in some of my own, non-Shein clothes with the capsule.

However, I’m happy to say that I’ve now been reunited with my denim wide-leg trousers, leggings, and several items of underwear that I left behind. Roll on the remaining month of the challenge…
